UJ Alumnus Becomes First Executive for AI at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center

​The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) have appointed renowned Jordanian professor Omar Hatamleh as the First Executive for Artificial Intelligence (AI) at NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center.

Professor Hatamleh, previously the Deputy Chief Scientist at NASA, was responsible for identifying new and promising areas of scientific research. He has twenty years of field experience in the space domain, has published more than 33 specialized articles, holds four degrees in engineering, and speaks four languages.

Hatamleh holds a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Jordan and completed his postgraduate studies in the United States, where he obtained a PhD in Mechanical Engineering from the University of South Carolina, a Master's degree in Materials Engineering from North Carolina State University, and a Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering from California State University.

Recently, His Majesty King Abdullah II of Jordan honored Hatamleh during the celebrations of Jordan's 78th Independence Day in recognition of his expertise in artificial intelligence and his status as one of the top 50 global thought leaders in this field.
