The University of Jordan (UJ) has participated in the Arab League of Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization's (ALECSO) “Twinning of Arab Universities” forum, which was organized in Tunisia.
Chaired by UJ President, Prof. Nathir Obeidat, the Forum's extensive meetings and consultations were held between the presidents and delegations of Arab universities, and many agreements were concluded between Arab universities in order to enhance joint cooperation in the field of education and innovation,.
The two-day forum was held within the framework of ALECSO’s efforts to strengthen and support joint Arab action to implement the Arab Strategy on Scientific and Technical Research and Innovation, which was adopted at the 28th Arab League Summit held in 2017.
While presenting a summary of the vision and mission of UJ, Obeidat pointed out the need for Arab research institutions to come together, and build a real and effective partnership to implement the Arab strategy in scientific research, innovation and leadership, with an emphasis on supporting the scientific efforts through active mechanisms between higher education institutions in governments.
On the sidelines of his address, Obeidat pointed out that universities must shift from focusing on employment to focusing on creating job opportunities, in order to create a new type of positive behavior and trends in the present and future.
