2024 Winter University Sports Championship Concludes in Aqaba

​The Winter University Sports Championship for the year 2024 concluded Tuesday with the participation of 21 public and private universities.

The University of Jordan (UJ) President, Prof. Nathir Obeidat, in his role as the President of the Sports Federation of Jordanian Universities (SFJU), crowned the Hashemite University team as the champion of the Jordanian Universities Football Championship for students. The Hashemite University secured the first-place by winning the final match against Mutah University.

Obeidat honored the winning teams and the tournament referees, accompanied by several deans of student affairs and members of the technical committee of the Federation, in presence of deans of schools at the University of Jordan (Amman and Aqaba).

The results were as follows: Princess Sumaya University of Technology and Al-Zarqa University teams tied for third place, Mutah University secured the second-place, and the Hashemite University team claimed the first-place title.

It is worth mentioning that the football competition involved participating teams from various universities, being the largest tournament held under the umbrella of the Federation. The tournament featured a strong sportsmanship spirit among the participating students.

The participating universities in the football championship included: University of Jordan, Hashemite University, Al-Zaytoonah University, Al-Balqa Applied University, Tafila Technical University, Mutah University, Princess Sumaya University for Technology and Applied Sciences, Al-Hussein Bin Talal University, University of Islamic Sciences, Yarmouk University, Al-albayt University, Petra University, German Jordanian University, Jordan University of Science and Technology, Al-Zarqa University, Jadara University, Amman Al-Ahliyya University, Middle East University, Philadelphia University, and Isra University.

The entire competition, which spanned four days, included three games: Futsal (men), badminton (Women – singles and teams), and basketball (Women).
