The University of Jordan (UJ) welcomed an academic delegation representing leading Chinese universities to explore new avenues of academic and research cooperation, innovation, and exchange. The visit followed earlier discussions with the China Association of Higher Education (CAHE), which set the stage for broader engagement under the China–Arab Universities “10+10” Cooperation Plan, one of the eight major initiatives for China–Arab practical cooperation announced by President Xi Jinping.

Vice President for Administrative Affairs, Financial Affairs and Digital Transformation Prof. Ziad Hawamdeh received the delegation, emphasizing that the visit reflects the growing strength of academic ties between UJ and Chinese universities, and the shared vision to advance higher education and research through long-term, sustainable partnerships.

Prof. Hawamdeh noted that UJ has already signed several cooperation and student-exchange agreements with prestigious Chinese universities, including Shanghai International Studies University, Peking University, and Dalian University of Technology. These partnerships cover Arabic-language teaching for Chinese students, faculty and researcher exchanges, and joint projects in innovation and technology, further deepening academic and research collaboration between the two sides.

Members of the Chinese delegation commended UJ’s research environment and expressed their interest in expanding cooperation in engineering, artificial intelligence, renewable energy, and applied sciences, underscoring UJ’s role as a bridge for educational and cultural exchange between Jordan and China.

The meeting was attended by Vice President for Quality & Local Accreditation Prof. Amira Masri, Vice President for Accreditation, Global Rankings and Sustainability Prof. Faleh Sawair, and Director of the International Affairs Unit Dr. Sameh Al-Zubiedi, along with several deans from UJ’s scientific and humanities schools.

The visit concluded with an exchange of commemorative plaques and a tour of the university’s key facilities, including the National Heritage Museum (the Archaeology Museum), reflecting the spirit of friendship and the expanding horizons of academic and research cooperation between the two sides.
