The University of Jordan (UJ) held talks with Samsung Electronics Levant on potential cooperation to upgrade UJ Radio, focusing on strengthening broadcast infrastructure, improving production workflows, and enhancing on-air service quality in support of the station’s academic mission and community role.

The discussions took place during a meeting chaired by UJ President Prof. Nathir Obeidat, attended by Vice President for Administrative Affairs, Financial Affairs and Digital Transformation Prof. Ziad Hawamdeh, and Director of the Media, Public Relations and Radio Unit Dr. Rakan Abu Arabi Adwan. Samsung Electronics Levant was represented by Regional Director Mutaz Aqrabawi, along with Anas Al Hayari and Bashar Khalil.

Both sides reviewed possible areas of collaboration, including upgrades to studio systems, signal routing, audio processing, and transmission, alongside improvements to production systems and the integration of advanced technologies to strengthen programme output, content delivery, and operational reliability.

Obeidat highlighted UJ Radio’s role as a leading university platform that supports the academic mission, showcases the University’s achievements, and provides hands-on training opportunities for students in broadcasting, audio production, and media communication. He reaffirmed the University’s commitment to strategic partnerships that advance institutional modernisation.

Abu Arabi said developing the radio station remains a priority within the Unit’s plans, given its role as a bridge between the University and the wider community. He added that cooperation with a global company such as Samsung could deliver measurable improvements in production quality, broadcast performance, and the technologies used in day-to-day operations.

Aqrabawi expressed Samsung Electronics Levant’s readiness to study the proposed areas of cooperation, noting the company’s interest in supporting the education and media sectors and contributing to the development of university media platforms through advanced technical solutions.
