​The Dean of Academic Research at the University of Jordan (UJ) Prof. Amira Al-Masri, honored distinguished professor of applied mathematics, Prof. Shaher Al-Momani, for his academic, scientific, and research contributions, locally and globally.

This recognition came after a lecture delivered by Al-Momani on combating predatory academic journals and conferences, highlighting their impact on Arab researchers and academic institutions.

The lecture aimed to raise awareness about predatory practices in scientific publishing, their consequences, and the danger they pose to knowledge and society. It also aimed to empower participants to avoid engagement with predatory conferences.

Al-Masri stated that honoring Al-Momani is part of a series of events organized by the Deanship to recognize and encourage researchers and distinguished individuals, appreciating their efforts to uplift the university and enhance the research sector in Jordan as a whole.

Regarding predatory journals, Al-Masri urged researchers to exercise maximum caution, avoid them, and turn to reputable international publishing outlets. She also emphasized the importance of verifying the legitimacy of journals through established criteria and standards in global databases.
