UJ Harvests Gold Medals in Jordanian Universities Sports Championship

​The events of the 2023 Jordanian Universities Sports Championship, organized by the Jordanian Universities Sports Union with the participation of 21 universities, concluded on Wednesday at the University of Jordan (UJ).

UJ President, Prof. Nathir Obeidat, in his capacity as the Chairman of the Union, alongside the Dean of Student Affairs, Prof. Safwan Al-Shayab, and the Director of the Sports Activity Department, Dr. Ali Abu Dari, presented shields and medals to the winning teams in the four competitions of the Championship: table tennis, cross-country racing, karate, and chess.

UJ claimed the lion's share of the gold medals, securing victories in various categories. The university earned gold in both men's and women's table tennis, as well as in the cross-country race championships. The women's team from UJ clinched gold in the race and silver in the individual race. In the chess tournament, UJ won in both the women's and men's competitions, also securing the top spot in the Table Champions/Students competition and winning the men's teams Championship.

In the karate events, UJ dominated by winning gold in several categories: individual kata (female students), individual fight (female students) in the weight category under 55 kg, individual fight (female students) in the weight category under 61 kg, individual fight (female students) in the weight category under 68 kg, and group fight (female students). UJ also claimed the top position in the karate tournament for men, securing gold in the individual fight in the weight category under 55 kg, individual fight in the weight category under 67 kg, individual fight in the weight category under 75 kg, and group fight.
