The University of Jordan (UJ) took part in the “Artificial Intelligence in Education and Digital Transformation” conference with a lecture delivered by its Child Language Acquisition research group, highlighting the role of linguistic knowledge in supporting responsible AI use in education.

The lecture explored links between human language acquisition and AI-based learning systems, showing how insights from natural language development can help shape more effective educational technologies aligned with ethical standards.

Head of the Child Language Acquisition research group Dr. Abdel Rahman Altakhaineh said integrating language-acquisition theories into AI applications is important for building sustainable education systems equipped for the future. He added that this can strengthen learning outcomes and enhance teaching and learning environments.

UJ’s participation also aligns with national priorities on digital transformation and the themes of His Majesty King Abdullah II’s Seventh Discussion Paper, which highlights lifelong learning as a foundation for national development and human-capacity building.

The conference was held as part of the Second Scientific Day of the Directorate of Military Education and Culture, under the patronage of Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Major General Yousef Ahmad Al-Huneiti.

It was attended by Minister of Education and Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Prof. Azmi Mahafzah, alongside senior officers from the Jordan Armed Forces and representatives of partner ministries and government institutions.

Discussions focused on AI in education, the development of intelligent learning systems and interactive learning environments centred on innovation and knowledge.
