School of Business Discusses Cooperation with the IMF Middle East Center for Economics and Finance

Dean of the School of Business at the University of Jordan (UJ), Prof. Samer Eid Dahiyat, discussed avenues of joint cooperation with the Director of the IMF-Middle East Center for Economics and Finance (IMF-CEF), Dr. Sami Ben Naceur, and his Deputy, Dr. Moez Souissi.

During the meeting, the two sides explored prospects for cooperation and mechanisms for establishing, developing, and strengthening institutional partnership between the School and the Center, particularly in the fields of economic policy, scientific research, and capacity building, with a focus on providing practical, solution-oriented support for economic policymakers.

The meeting also addressed partnership opportunities that would contribute to strengthening the relationship between academic work and the requirements of public economic policymaking with direct practical impact.

Dahiyat noted the School’s continued efforts to enhance its partnerships with specialized international institutions, to contributes to the development of academic and research programs and opens wider opportunities for training and diverse capacity-building for its students, particularly to qualify them to meet the labor market needs.

For his part, Ben Naceur reviewed the role played by the IMF-CEF in supporting public institutions through training programs, policy dialogues, and knowledge exchange in economic, financial, and macroeconomic issues relevant to the region.

At the conclusion of the meeting, which was attended by the Vice Deans of the School, Prof. Alaa Al-Din Abu Nuqta, Prof. Abdul Hakim Akhu Arsheideh, and Dr. Moatasem Dhanibat, in addition to the Head of the Finance Department, Prof. Ghada Tayyem, as well as Dr. Adel Bino and Dr. Raad Al-Tal, both sides agreed to hold further meetings in preparation for signing a memorandum of understanding to organize and frame areas of cooperation between the two parties.

Headquartered in Kuwait, IMF-CEF is a regional center dedicated to strengthening economic capacities and supporting policymaking in the member states of the Arab League, with a particular focus on the development of macroeconomic and financial policies in the region.
