University of Jordan in Aqaba Celebrates Graduation of 13th Cohort of Students

The University of Jordan in Aqaba celebrated today the graduation of its 13th cohort of students in a ceremony held at the Great Arab Revolt Square, under the patronage of UJ President Prof. Nathir Obeidat and in the presence of senior officials and the families of the graduates.

A total of 535 students from six schools were conferred degrees during the event. The graduates represented the Schools of Languages, Business, Nursing, Tourism and Hospitality, Information Technology and Systems, and Basic and Marine Sciences.

The distribution of graduates was as follows: 185 from the School of Languages, 133 from the School of Business, 88 from the School of Nursing, 62 from the School of Tourism and Hospitality, 44 from the School of Information Technology and Systems, and 23 students from the School of Basic and Marine Sciences.

In his address, Obeidat reaffirmed UJ’s firm commitment to graduating qualified and competitive individuals capable of contributing meaningfully to local, regional, and international markets, emphasising that the Aqaba Branch continues to serve as a strategic pillar in shaping the educational and economic future of the southern region.

For his part, UJ Aqaba President, Prof. Nazeeh Al Btoush,  announced a series of upcoming development projects the university plans to implement, including upgrading computer laboratories, establishing a specialised lab for cybersecurity and network intelligence, furnishing an on-campus dormitory for female students, and launching a smart gate modelled after the main university gate in Amman. He explained that these projects are part of UJ’s vision to contribute to transforming Aqaba into a modern digital city aligned with scientific advancement and national economic priorities.

Al Btoush expressed his joy on this day, reaffirming the university’s central role in fostering students’ academic and practical capabilities and in providing a comprehensive learning environment that enhances their skills and prepares them for the labour market.

The ceremony concluded with warm congratulations to the graduates and their families in a joyful and spirited atmosphere that reflected UJ Aqaba’s pride in its alumni and their anticipated contributions to shaping Jordan’s future. 

The event concluded with expressions of appreciation to all who contributed to its success and prayers for the continued security and stability of Jordan under the leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah II Ibn Al Hussein and His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II.
