University of Jordan Library meets quality assurance officers to strengthen accreditation support

By Zayed Alzyoud

The University of Jordan (UJ) Library held its first coordination meeting with vice deans and assistant deans for quality assurance across the University’s Schools, as part of efforts to strengthen collaboration with academic units and support the University’s quality assurance and accreditation priorities.

Chaired by Library Director Dr. Mujahed M Thneibat, the meeting discussed how the Library’s collections, research databases and academic support services contribute to programme development and help Schools meet local and international accreditation requirements.

Library administrators and department heads reviewed quality standards related to library support at the School level, with discussions focusing on access to specialised references, research databases and up-to-date resources aligned with curricula and study plans. Participants also shared practical approaches for updating and enriching information sources based on academic needs.

The session also examined ways to assess satisfaction with Library services provided to academic departments and highlighted knowledge management as a tool that can enhance institutional learning, improve service planning and strengthen follow-up within academic support services.

Thneibat stressed that the Library remains a core pillar in the University’s academic quality framework, noting that specialised references and scientific databases are closely linked to academic programmes and the evolving needs of faculty members. He added that the Library continues to align its services with School priorities to ensure both digital and print resources effectively support quality assurance and accreditation processes.

During the meeting, Thneibat presented an overview of the Library’s vision and mission and shared indicators on the use of e-services and research databases, including access to full-text university theses. He also reviewed key services and support offered to students, researchers and faculty members, including information and training services, facilitating access to materials not available through subscriptions, and interlibrary loan services when needed.

The meeting concluded with an open discussion, during which faculty representatives provided feedback and proposals to further develop Library services in line with School needs, quality assurance standards and accreditation benchmarks.
