The University of Jordan (UJ) signed today a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on academic cooperation with Palestine Ahliya University (PAU), aimed at enhancing academic and scientific collaboration between the two institutions.

The MoU was signed on behalf of UJ by its President, Prof. Nathir Obeidat, and on behalf of PAU by its President, Prof. Imad Al-Zeer, in the presence of the Dean of Graduate Studies at PAU, Prof. Nasser Jaradat, as well as UJ vice presidents and the Director of the International Affairs Unit.

During the signing ceremony, Obeidat voiced UJ’s pride in its partnership with Palestinian universities, highlighting the deep bond between the two sides and the outstanding qualities of Palestinian graduates, particularly their determination and resilience. He reaffirmed continuous support for Palestinian universities and students.

For his part, Al-Zeer noted that higher education in Palestine faces multiple challenges, alongside a shortage of academic staff in advanced fields. Despite this, he emphasised that education remains one of the most strategic tools for resilience, expressing appreciation for UJ’s continued support to Palestinian universities and students.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed potential areas of collaboration, including higher specialisation programs in medicine, nursing, educational sciences, management, and other fields of mutual interest.

The MoU aims to enhance cooperation in several key areas, including the exchange of faculty members and researchers; the development of joint academic programs; collaborative research projects; student exchanges under specified agreements; as well as organising joint conferences, seminars, and scholarly events, and sharing knowledge and publications.

This MoU aligns with UJ’s commitment to expanding its regional and international academic partnerships and promoting the exchange of knowledge and expertise to elevate the quality of education and research at both institutions.
