The University of Jordan (UJ) has launched SportoPedia, a digital platform dedicated to documenting and highlighting the achievements of its student-athletes from across the University and across multiple sports. The initiative supports UJ’s ongoing efforts to promote a culture of sporting excellence and to expand academic and professional opportunities for talented students.

The launch comes as part of UJ’s participation in the 2025 Global University English Language Olympiad (ELO), held under the theme “Sport.” The project is implemented in collaboration with the School of Foreign Languages, the School of Sport Sciences, the Information Technology Center and the Association of Faculties, Departments and Institutes of Arab Physical Education.

Representing UJ in this year’s Olympiad is the SportsMythers team, supervised by Dr. Duaa Salameh. The team developed SportoPedia as a digital reference designed to recognize and preserve the achievements of UJ’s student-athletes in a clear and accessible format. The platform marks the first phase of a broader effort to map university sports in Jordan, with plans to expand its scope to include other institutions in the future.

The launch ceremony brought together several University officials, including Prof. Marwan Jarrah, Dean of the School of Foreign Languages; Prof. Aida Al-Awamleh, Dean of the School of Sport Sciences; Dr. Fatima Alkhrissat, Assistant Dean for Student and Alumni Affairs; Dr. Ali Abu Dari, Director of the Sports Activity Department; and Faris Al-Smadi, Director of the Website and Mobile Applications Department at the Information Technology Center.

SportoPedia reflects UJ’s wider vision to utilize digital innovation in enhancing student engagement, elevating athletic visibility and strengthening the University’s position as a leading academic institution in the region.
