The School of Nursing at the University of Jordan (UJ) inaugurated today a series of workshops for students expected to graduate, as part of the “Career Readiness” course coordinated by Dr. Abdullah Algunmeeyn. The initiative aims to enhance students’ readiness for the job market, develop their professional skills, and connect academic knowledge with the practical requirements of the healthcare sector.
The series began with a specialized training workshop presented by the Health Care Accreditation Council (HCAC), covering key topics in quality systems and patient safety. The workshop addressed principles of quality, patient safety, risk management, the role of nursing in promoting quality patient care, the impact of accreditation on healthcare quality improvement, and an introduction to the National Quality and Patient Safety Goals (NQSG).
Delivered by HCAC Senior Technical Officer Ayisheh Mahasneh, the workshop also highlighted the contributions of nurses in implementing quality standards and fostering a culture of safety within healthcare institutions. It included practical examples from healthcare settings and emphasized the critical role of nurses in minimizing risks and improving patient outcomes.
The workshop series will continue from March 24 to May 6, following a comprehensive program that combines professional, technical, and skill-building sessions, with participation from specialized national organizations and UJ’s hospital.
Dean of the School, Prof. Areej Othman, affirmed that these workshops are an integral part of the school’s curriculum, designed to equip graduating students with practical knowledge, personal and professional skills, and enhance their readiness for the job market, in line with UJ’s vision of aligning educational outcomes with the needs of the local healthcare sector.
