The Agence Universitaire de la Francophonie (AUF) has selected the University of Jordan in Aqaba (UJ-Aqaba), through UJ’s International Affairs Unit, to participate in the EUSEEDS project, funded at 89% by the European Union under the Interreg NEXT MED Programme. The project aims to enhance employment opportunities, develop digital skills, and support youth entrepreneurship across Mediterranean countries.
The selection of UJ Aqaba is in line with the University’s plan and the strategy of the External Funded Projects Division within the International Affairs Unit to attract high-quality internationally funded projects that serve university students and the local community.
This came following a competitive evaluation process among applicant universities, after the Agency announced the call for applications in October 2025, which included eligible universities from five countries in the Eastern Mediterranean region.
Implemented across 24 universities in Cyprus, Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon and Palestine, the project aims to enhance students’ employability and strengthen entrepreneurship and digital skills, particularly in socially and economically challenged communities, by establishing or revitalizing specialized university centers.
The project will be implemented at the Aqaba Branch through the External Funded Projects Division at the International Affairs Unit, in cooperation with Al al-Bayt University, Jordan University of Science and Technology, Al-Hussein Bin Talal University, and the Hashemite University.
It is worth noting that AUF – Middle East is leading the project, which is co-funded by the European Union with a budget of approximately €2.5 million out of a total of around €2.8 million, and is implemented through a consortium of seven regional and European partners.
