The Center for Strategic Studies (CSS) at the University of Jordan (UJ) on Tuesday received a delegation taking part in the Exceptional Training Course for Heads of Criminal Investigation Departments (CID), currently under way at Jordan’s Criminal Investigation Training Center in partnership with the Libyan side.

CSS Director Prof. Hassan Al Momani briefed the delegation on the Center’s research mandate and its role in producing policy-relevant studies and analytical reports that support decision-making and national and regional priority-setting, including security and strategic assessments.

He highlighted CSS flagship research projects and its focus on aligning academic research outputs with the operational needs of national institutions, particularly across the security and criminal justice sectors. He stressed that sustained cooperation between academic and security bodies is essential for structured capacity-building, strengthening leadership competencies, and advancing professional standards in criminal investigation work.

Director of the Surveys and Studies Department at CSS Dr. Walid Al Khatib also presented an overview of surveys and studies conducted by the Center in cooperation with national and international partners, underscoring their value in providing decision-makers with reliable, evidence-based insights grounded in field data and applied research methods.

Participants from both the Libyan and Jordanian sides welcomed the briefing, praising CSS work and UJ’s standing. They said the visit added a strategic dimension to the course and deepened their understanding of evolving challenges facing criminal investigation departments.

The Exceptional Training Course for Heads of Criminal Investigation Departments is a leadership-focused programme designed to strengthen criminal investigation competencies and reflects Jordan’s continued support for partner countries through training and structured expertise-sharing.
