The University of Jordan (UJ), represented by two researchers from the Hamdi Mango Center for Scientific Research, Dr. Rund Abu-Zurayk and Dr. Tamara Qudah, took part in the Second International Seminar on Biodiversity and Natural Resource Management (ISBNRM 2025), held in Tipaza, Algeria.

The seminar, organized by the Higher Normal School Cheikh Mohamed Bachir El Ibrahimi Kouba in collaboration with the Laboratory of Animal Ecobiology, brought together specialists and researchers from across the Arab region and several European countries to discuss emerging trends in biodiversity conservation and the sustainable management of natural resources.

Abu-Zurayk, participating upon invitation from the organizing committee, delivered a lecture titled “Nanoclay Composites for Sustainable Water Treatment: Bridging Material Innovation and Ecosystem Protection.” Her presentation examined advanced nanoclay-based materials as sustainable solutions to improve water quality, while emphasizing their role in mitigating environmental impacts and safeguarding vulnerable ecosystems.

Qudah presented a research paper titled “In Vitro Propagation and Cryopreservation of the Wild Plant Ephedra foeminea for Climate-Resilient Conservation in Jordan.” Her work highlighted cutting-edge biotechnological approaches for propagating and preserving wild plant species threatened by climate change, with a particular focus on enhancing the resilience of Jordan’s native flora.

The participation of Abu-Zurayk and Qudah strengthened UJ’s presence in international scientific forums and expanded opportunities for future collaboration with partner institutions in Algeria and beyond. The two researchers expressed their appreciation for the excellent organization of the seminar and the warm hospitality extended by their Algerian hosts.
