The University of Jordan Library, in cooperation with Emerald Publishing, organized a specialized workshop titled “Get Ready to Publish in a Journal,” designed to enhance the publishing skills of faculty members, postgraduate students and researchers amid growing competition in global academic publishing.

Library Director Dr. Mujahed M. Thneibat underscored the Library’s role in supporting high-quality research through access to reputable scientific databases and guidance on identifying credible peer-reviewed journals. He pointed to the increasing use of AI tools in academic writing, stressing the need for researchers to verify information and understand the peer-review process as a core pillar of research integrity.

Mahynour Okda, Publishing Relationship and Training Manager at Emerald Publishing MEA, led the workshop with the participation of Areej Barghouthi. Okda outlined practical criteria for selecting trustworthy journals, differentiating them from predatory outlets, and navigating editorial policies and review timelines. She also highlighted the essential components of a well-structured manuscript, from shaping the title and abstract to identifying the research gap and meeting international ethical and citation standards.

The workshop also included a focused discussion on the peer-review process and effective strategies for responding to reviewers’ comments to strengthen publication prospects.

This collaboration continues with an upcoming online session, “The Road to Successful Academic Publishing,” scheduled for 9 December 2025, further reflecting the University’s commitment to supporting research development and strengthening its academic publishing culture.
