Two Researchers from University of Jordan Win at the 2025 King Hussein Cancer Research Award Ceremony

Two researchers from the University of Jordan (UJ) won at the 2025 King Hussein Cancer Research Award, confirming the university’s steady contribution to cancer research in the region.

Deputizing for His Majesty King Abdullah II and Her Majesty Queen Rania Al Abdullah, HRH Prince Talal bin Muhammad presented the awards during a ceremony in Amman attended by HRH Princess Ghida Talal, Chairperson of the King Hussein Cancer Foundation and Center, along with leading medical and scientific specialists.

Princess Ghida emphasized the award’s mission to promote scientific progress and its development into a regional platform that brings together researchers from various countries.

Prof. Mohammad Abu Hilal, Professor of Surgical Oncology at UJ, received the Lifetime Achievement Award in the regional track. Dr. Walhan Alshaer, Associate Professor at the Cell Therapy Center at UJ, received the Young Investigator Award.

The ceremony also honored researchers from Mayo Clinic Florida, the UCLA Jonsson Comprehensive Cancer Center, and institutions in Dubai and Beirut. The Pediatric Oncology East and Mediterranean KHCC Regional Pediatric Oncology Training and Capacity Building Program was additionally recognized.

The achievement of the two UJ researchers highlights the university’s continued commitment to supporting impactful scientific and medical research.
