The University of Jordan (UJ) president signed several academic and scientific memoranda of understanding with counterpart universities in the Duhok Governorate in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq.

The MoUs are the result of the success of the Jordanian-Kurdistan Higher Education Forum organized by the Jordanian Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, in coordination with the Jordan Tourism Board, and in cooperation with the Kurdistan Ministry of Higher Education.

The cooperation memoranda include establishing joint scientific and research projects, conducting various programs, exchanging experiences and knowledge between the Jordanian and Kurdish sides, exchanging faculty members, supporting student exchange efforts, as well as organizing joint scientific conferences and seminars.

In his speech delivered on behalf of the Jordanian delegation after the signing ceremony of the agreements Obeidat said that Jordanian universities aspire with all their strength to be in partnership with their Kurdish counterparts.

On their part, the presidents of universities in Duhok expressed their pleasure to establish scientific and academic relationships with UJ, given its distinguished reputation and achievements on the scales of international rankings.

The MoUs included Duhok University, Nouruz University, Duhok Technical University, Jehan- Duhok University, Zakho University, Aqra University for Applied Sciences, and the American University of Kurdistan.
