UJ President Attends World University Presidents Forum in Beijing

The University of Jordan (UJ) President, Prof. Nathir Obeidat, participated in the World University Presidents' Forum (WUPF) in Beijing, China, hosted jointly by the Chinese Association of Higher Education, Beking University and Tsinghua University, from 30-31 July.
 
In his address during the event, Obeidat spoke about the digitization of education and future directions of higher education, referring to academic responsibility to foster leadership development, innovation, and training of humans, denoting sustainable development challenges faced by academic institutions.
 
Obeidat presented the university's strategic plan for the next five years, designed primarily to be based on the 17 global sustainable development goals (SDGs) of the United Nations.
 
The forum, themed "An Era of Transformation and the Mission of Universities", aimed primarily to build an exchange and dialogue platform for presidents of the world's top universities.
 
The forum discussed five topics, including artificial intelligence, education digitalization and the future of higher education, future talent capability needs and training model changes, academic responsibility and innovative development of global universities, challenges and innovations in the sustainable development of universities, and university cooperation and exchanges from the perspective of a community with a shared future for mankind.  
 
On the sideline of the event, Obeidat along with UJ vice president Prof. Ashraf Abu Karaki, and Prof. Nader Albsoul discussed with the Chinese Association of Higher Education President and a number of Chinese university presidents ways to develop joint cooperation.
