The University of Jordan (UJ) student Mohammad Raed Ghanem from the School of Sharia earned first place in the national “Al-Maher” Holy Quran Competition for Jordanian universities. He secured the title after a close final round with fellow UJ student Tamim Al-Thawabi from the School of Arts, showcasing exceptional mastery in memorization, recitation, and understanding of the Holy Quran.

The achievement came during the fifth edition of the competition organized by the Al-Maher Quranic Association, which introduced a dedicated “Jordanian Universities Challenge” track to engage students from both public and private universities. The initiative aims to strengthen Quranic memorization, encourage confident and accurate recitation, and inspire deeper connection with the Holy Quran among young people.

Dean of the School of Sharia Prof. Abdul Rahman Alkilani congratulated Ghanem, describing the accomplishment as an expression of the School’s academic mission and its commitment to preparing students to excel in national and regional Quranic forums. He highlighted the importance of student engagement in Quran-centered initiatives.

UJ continues to support student participation in Quranic, cultural, and academic activities, reaffirming its role in nurturing talent and celebrating excellence across the university community.
