The University of Jordan (UJ), in collaboration with the Italian Trade Agency (ITA) and the Embassy of Italy in Amman, hosted the Italian Design Day 2025 on February 26 at the School of Arts and Design.
The event, themed "Inequalities – Design for a Better Life," brought together distinguished academics and experts in design, architecture, and literature to discuss the role of design in promoting social equity.
The event commenced with welcome remarks by Vice President for Humanities Schools, Prof. Nahed Emaish, Ambassador of Italy to Jordan, Luciano Pezzotti, and Dean of the School of Arts and Design, Prof. Ali Abu Ghanimeh.
The program featured a lecture by Prof. Alessandro Colombo from Politecnico di Milano and Politecnico di Torino, titled "Inequalities – Design for a Better Life." Moreover, Head of the Architecture Department, Prof. Deyala Altarawneh, delivered a speech on "Mass Customization in Affordable Housing: A Design Solution for Social Equity," while Head of the European Languages Department, Prof. Mahmoud Jaran, presented on "Design and Literature: An Inclusive Synergy Against Inequalities."
Following the discussions, the event concluded with a photography exhibition titled "Photography for Lifetime Achievement," presented by Professor Alessandro Colombo, at the Gallery of the School of Arts and Design.
