Director of the Center for Strategic Studies (CSS) at the University of Jordan (UJ), Prof. Hasan Almomani, today discussed with the Ambassador of the Republic of Azerbaijan to the Kingdom, Shahin Abdullayev, who was accompanied by Diplomatic Attaché Nijat Ismayilov, ways to enhance joint academic and cultural cooperation.
During the meeting, Almomani affirmed the deep-rooted ties between Jordan and Azerbaijan, stressing the importance of expanding cooperation in academic and research fields.
Almomani also provided an overview of the Center, which was established in 1984 by a Royal Decree and is hosted by the University of Jordan. He highlighted its role as one of the leading think tanks in Jordan, the region, and internationally, as well as its extensive network of relations with think tanks and researchers at regional and international universities and research centers.
He further noted the Center’s commitment to promoting the exchange of research expertise and to developing cultural, educational, and research relations, in addition to broadening academic cooperation in areas of mutual interest.
For his part, the Ambassador expressed his appreciation for the academic and research role played by the University of Jordan and the Center for Strategic Studies. He emphasised the shared civilizational and cultural heritage, as well as the convergence of political orientations between the two countries, underscoring the need to build on these common grounds to strengthen trade, economic, and educational relations between Jordan and Azerbaijan.
