University of Jordan’s School of Agriculture Strengthens Graduate Career Readiness with International TOT Program

The University of Jordan’s (UJ) School of Agriculture has concluded an international Training of Trainers (TOT) program, marking a significant step to boost graduates’ career readiness. The initiative was designed to bridge the gap between academic outcomes and the evolving demands of the labor market.

Implemented under IREX’s Higher Education for Innovation and Growth (HEIG) project in partnership with Virginia Tech, the program targeted faculty members teaching the “Career Readiness” course. This highlights the school’s ongoing commitment to professional career guidance and skills-based assessment.

The sessions also emphasized the development of authentic assessment tools and the instruction of soft skills, professionalism, and workplace ethics. Faculty members explored strategies to integrate critical thinking into real-world professional contexts.

A total of 26 faculty members from various departments participated in the sessions, which were led by experts from Virginia Tech and the HEIG team. The training focused on practical skills, including the design and supervision of Work-Based Learning (WBL) and experiential learning programs.

The program concluded with a comprehensive evaluation and self-assessment process. This aligns with UJ’s quality assurance framework, ensuring that academic programs remain dynamic and responsive to the needs of the modern workforce.
