The University of Jordan (UJ) has launched a four-day induction programme for newly appointed faculty members at the university and its Aqaba Branch, aimed at supporting new staff as they take up teaching and academic responsibilities as part of UJ’s drive to strengthen quality and institutional excellence.
The programme was launched under the patronage of Vice President for Quality & Local Accreditation Prof. Amira Masri and attended by Director of the Center for Excellence in Learning and Teaching Dr. Raed Al-Taher, along with academic and administrative officials.
Masri said the university is broadening its quality efforts beyond accreditation, with a focus on improving teaching and learning, strengthening learning outcomes, enhancing research performance, and improving services for students and the wider community.
She added that UJ is also prioritising good governance and modern management, as well as building effective partnerships locally and internationally. Digital transformation, she noted, is central to these efforts through greater use of artificial intelligence, digital platforms and other modern technologies.
Masri also said the programme supports national efforts to develop higher education, promote innovation and better align graduates’ skills with labour-market needs and the knowledge economy.
Al-Taher said the programme runs for seven hours a day over four days and covers quality assurance procedures, sustainability and governance, research ethics and funding opportunities, regulations governing academic work, e-learning and course design, digital platforms, learning outcomes, active learning, and fair and transparent student assessment.
The initiative reflects the university’s emphasis on investing in its people and supporting new faculty members from the outset, contributing to sustained education quality and stronger research output.
