The University of Jordan (UJ) hosted an introductory meeting on BTEC programs, attended by several university presidents and their representatives, upon the invitation of the Accreditation and Quality Assurance Commission for Higher Education Institutions.
The meeting discussed the implementation mechanism and requirements for using the Pearson BTEC Diploma, an internationally recognized professional certification offered by Pearson UK in partnership with Jordanian higher education institutions. The program aims to equip students with the skills and knowledge necessary to enter the job market across various sectors.
Chairman of the Commission, Prof. Dhafer Al-Sarayrah stated that an agreement was signed with Pearson International to strengthen confidence in Jordan's technical and vocational education outcomes and improve graduates' job opportunities locally and internationally. Under this agreement, the Commission and Pearson will collaborate to develop accreditation standards and enhance mechanisms for evaluating the quality of technical and vocational programs.
During the meeting, in-depth discussions took place among academics and experts on the mechanisms for establishing and accrediting Pearson's technical programs, linking them to Jordan's National Qualifications Framework, and aligning them with the qualification levels offered by BTEC programs.
It is worth noting that the BTEC (Business and Technology Education Council) system represents an international standard in vocational education, offering certificates and diplomas across a wide range of disciplines. It enables students to combine theoretical study with practical application, ensuring that graduates are well-prepared for real-world job requirements while enhancing their employment prospects or enabling them to continue their higher education.
