​At the invitation of the Embassy of the Kingdom of Norway to Jordan, the Director of the Center for Women's Studies at the University of Jordan (UJ), Prof. Majeda Omar, met with the Norwegian Ambassador Espen Avent Lindbäck at the Embassy's premises.

During the meeting, Lindbäck expressed support for women's rights and gender equality, addressing possible prospects for cooperation in this field, and pointing to Jordan's important role in launching the National Strategy for Women (2020-2025) and its efforts to implement it.

For her part, Omar thanked the ambassador for his kind invitation, stressing the strong ties that bind the two kingdoms in all fields, especially in the field of women's issues and their empowerment, human rights and human security.

Omar also gave a brief about the center, its goals, aspirations, and tasks it undertakes, and an overview of the women's studies master's program, as well as training and research activities carried out at the center.

The meeting was attended by the Minister Counsellor and Deputy Head of Mission, Rita Sandberg, and Projects Officer at the Norwegian Embassy, Raya Khreis.
