As part of its efforts to obtain international accreditation for its academic programs, the School of Agriculture at the University of Jordan (UJ) welcomed a team of experts from ABET for a visit that will continue until Tuesday, aimed at evaluating the Bachelor’s program in Land, Water, and Environment.

The delegation comprises team leader Dr. Jack Ogutu and members Dr. Ganesh Bora and Dr. David Jones. The visit aims to conduct a comprehensive review of the academic program by examining relevant documents and visiting facilities within the department, school, and university.

The team met with the Dean of the School, Prof. Hadeel Ghazzawi, in presence of Vice and Assistant Deans, as well as the Head of the Department of Land, Water, and Environment. The meeting addressed efforts made to enhance the program, improve quality of its outcomes, and ensure alignment with ABET's international standards.

Ghazzawi emphasized the importance of the visit, noting that the efforts of the Department of Land, Water, and Environment, led by Dr. Faihaa Al-Shibli, to obtain international accreditation reflect its commitment to improving the quality of academic programs and their learning outcomes.

Ghazzawi added that the visit aligns with the university’s strategic direction to enhance the competitiveness of its academic programs at both regional and international levels. She explained that obtaining ABET accreditation would elevate the standing of the School and the University globally, while expanding career opportunities for students and graduates.

The visit program also included a field tour of several School facilities, including laboratories and lecture halls, as well as a visit to the School’s Agricultural Stations Department in the Central Jordan Valley.
