A team of experts from ABET began today a three-day visit to the King Abdullah II School of Information Technology at the University of Jordan (UJ) to review the Bachelor’s program in Computer Information Systems (CIS) for the renewal of its international accreditation.

The team met with the School’s Dean, Prof. Basel Mahafzah, along with his deputy, assistants, and the head of the CIS Department. Discussions focused on program development, curriculum enhancement, learning outcomes, alignment with global accreditation standards, and recently introduced academic and training programs developed in collaboration with other schools.

Mahafzah affirmed the School’s commitment to maintaining the highest standards of quality and academic accreditation to strengthen its regional and international standing and to graduate highly qualified professionals capable of competing in local and global markets. He also highlighted ongoing efforts to enhance the School’s infrastructure and technological capabilities in support of teaching and research.

The experts conducted a field tour of the cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, robotics, and ProgressSoft laboratories, where they reviewed technical facilities, student resources, and the integration of infrastructure with educational and training components. The tour also included a visit to the Information Technology Center and the university library to examine technical support services, and available scientific and digital resources supporting the School’s programs.

It is noteworthy that ABET has previously granted international accreditation to the School’s programs in Computer Science and Business Information Technology (BIT), in addition to the CIS program.
