A delegation from Bukhara State Medical Institute in Uzbekistan, headed by Vice Rector for International Cooperation Prof. Laziz Niyazov, and accompanied by the Institute’s representative in the Arab region, Abdullah Al-Rawajfeh, met today with the University of Jordan (UJ) Vice President for Global Rankings, International Accreditation and Sustainability Prof. Faleh Sawair, to explore academic and research collaboration and the exchange of expertise between the two institutions.

The meeting, attended by Vice Dean of the School of Medicine for Quality, Communication, and Global Rankings Dr. Hana Taha, and Director of the International Affairs Unit Dr. Sameh Al-Zubaidi, focused on potential cooperation areas, especially in medical education and training, student exchange programs, academic visits for faculty and researchers, and joint research projects of shared interest.

Welcoming the delegation, Sawair stressed UJ’s commitment to fostering international partnerships with leading global universities to advance higher education and promote the exchange of knowledge and expertise. He noted that the visit reflects the university’s vision of openness to international academic institutions, commending Bukhara State Medical Institute’s efforts to establish effective collaborations in education, training, and research that would benefit both students and faculty.

Niyazov, in turn, outlined the history of Bukhara State Medical Institute, established in 1990 as one of Uzbekistan’s prominent public universities, internationally recognised for its medical programs. He highlighted its use of Uzbek, Russian, Turkish, and English in teaching, and voiced his institute’s strong interest in cooperation with UJ, given its outstanding regional and international reputation.

The visit is part of implementing a memorandum of understanding previously signed between the two sides, aiming to translate the agreed-upon cooperation into practice.
