The University of Jordan (UJ) hosted a delegation from the Jordan Green Building Council (GBC) to discuss cooperation in sustainability, specialised training, and developing an environmentally friendly campus aligned with modern standards.
Vice President for Accreditation, Global Rankings, and Sustainability Prof. Faleh Sawair emphasised that sustainability lies at the core of the UJ’s strategic priorities. He highlighted plans to integrate international best practices that create a greener campus while equipping students with the skills to thrive in both local and global labour markets.
The talks also explored launching specialised training programmes to provide students with micro-credentials in green buildings and sustainable energy, alongside opportunities for joint research projects that foster innovation and connect academic knowledge with industry needs in line with global sustainability trends.
From UJ, the meeting was attended by Vice President Prof. Faleh Sawair, School of Engineering academic Dr. Ahlam Harahsheh, and Director of the Engineering Department Dr. Nabeel Y. Al-Kurdi. The GBC delegation included Board Member Dr. Yasmeen Okour, Executive Manager Eng. Ghayda’ Salameh.
The GBC, a non-profit and non-governmental organisation representing the World Green Building Council (WorldGBC) in Jordan, works across four pillars: training and capacity building, membership and networking, innovation and research, and advocacy, all aimed at promoting sustainability and advancing environmental practices across sectors.
