Under the patronage of Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Major General Yousef Al-Huneiti, the Royal Maintenance Corps opened on Wednesday its Second Scientific Conference, held under the theme “Technical Education in Jordan: Towards a National Educational Strategic Integration.” The two-day event is hosted by Prince Al Hussein Bin Abdullah II Military Technical College.
Commander of the Royal Maintenance Corps Brigadier General Eng. Ahmad Al-Husainat underlined that the conference represents a step forward in strengthening the readiness and professionalism of the armed forces through advanced vocational and technical training. Commandant of the College Brigadier General Engineer Omar Al-Shawabkeh highlighted the institution’s pioneering role in technical education and its longstanding cooperation with Al-Balqa Applied University.
The University of Jordan (UJ) President Prof. Nathir Obeidat described technical and vocational education as “a gateway to the future,” pointing to the dual challenges and opportunities posed by artificial intelligence. He called for genuine industry partnerships that foster innovation and productivity while safeguarding human values.
Vice President of Al-Balqa Applied University Prof. Khaled Al-Zoubi stressed the importance of applied education in producing highly skilled graduates, while President of Al-Hussein Technical University Prof. Ismael Al-Hinti underscored the significance of aligning higher education with the military sector, particularly in research and development.
Al-Huneiti and senior attendees also toured the college’s laboratories and exhibition, which showcased innovative educational projects, precision engineering tools, and upgraded military equipment. The conference programme features discussions on the philosophy and future of technical education, labour market demands, and the integration of cybersecurity and electronic defence into training curricula.
