The University of Jordan (UJ) President, Prof. Nathir Obeidat, met with the President of the Peoples' Friendship University of Russia, Prof. Oleg Yastrebov, on the sidelines of the First World Public Assembly, held at the World Trade Center in Moscow, Russia.
The meeting, which took place at the university's headquarters, focused on examining ways to develop academic, research, and cultural cooperation between the two institutions. Discussions covered key areas of mutual interest, including faculty and student exchange programs, joint research initiatives, collaborative academic projects, and the dissemination of scientific publications.
The two sides also explored mechanisms for strengthening international partnerships that contribute to the global standing of both universities, and discussed promoting the teaching of the Russian language at UJ to further deepen cultural and academic exchange.
During the meeting, Obeidat presented an overview of UJ's history, academic development, and its achievements at the national, regional, and international levels. He highlighted UJ's advancement in global rankings, including its position at 324th globally according to the QS World University Rankings, as well as its diverse academic offerings and distinguished faculties.
Obeidat stressed the importance of the meeting as a step towards establishing strategic partnerships, noting that such cooperation would play a vital role in supporting research, innovation, and the development of high-quality educational experiences for both faculty and students.
He further emphasized UJ’s commitment to expanding its global outreach through partnerships with prestigious academic institutions worldwide, expressing his keenness to develop joint academic programs with the Peoples' Friendship University of Russia.
For his part, Yastrebov expressing his keenness to collaboration with UJ, noting that building bridges with a leading Jordanian and Arab university enriches academic exchange and creates new opportunities for joint academic and research excellence.
