As part of ongoing scientific and research cooperation and partnership between the University of Jordan (UJ) and Jordan Atomic Energy Commission (JAEC), the Department of Geology at the School of Science hosted a research team from the Commission's laboratories to conduct a series of joint scientific experiments.

The visit, which took place under the supervision of JAEC Secretary-General, Dr. Ahmad Alsabbagh, aimed primarily to utilize the department’s laboratories and benefit from academic expertise in the field of separating rare earth elements techniques. This effort is part of a set of studies conducted by the Commission in the field of "rare earth element enrichment."

During the visit, the team was introduced to the department’s laboratories and available equipment.

Under the supervision of Dr. Nagel Yaseen, they conducted a series of intensive experiments in the department’s geochemistry lab, focusing on magnetic and heavy liquid separation (HLS) techniques.

Yaseen emphasized the importance of these experiments in understanding both the theoretical and applied methods used in the separation of rare earth element minerals, which are of significant economic value due to their utilization in various contemporary industries.

This visit and joint research collaboration between the two institutions contribute to enriching scientific research in both organizations and strengthening integration among national institutions, supporting the Kingdom's developmental goals in the field of natural resource utilization and scientific advancement.
