Academic Bulgarian Delegation from Three Universities Visits UJ

UJ News - The University of Jordan (UJ), Prof. Nathir Obeidat, stressed on Sunday UJ's openness to cooperation with international higher education institutions as a necessary step for development at the global level.

Obeidat welcomed, during a meeting with a Bulgarian academic delegation from Sofia University, Agricultural University in Plovdia, and "Prof. D-r. Assen Zlatarov" University, building joint cooperation in the agriculture, tourism and public health fields.

Obeidat stressed in presence of the Bulgarian Ambassador to Jordan, Dr. Dimitar Mihaylov, that mutual cooperation focuses on training, capacity and skills building.

In the meeting, attended by Vice President for Scientific Schools, Prof. Ashraf Abu Karaki; Dean of the School of Agriculture, Prof. Safwan Shiyab; and Director of the International Affairs Unit, Dr. Hadeel Yaseen, the two parties identified priorities they wish to work through, including academic exchange programs, training, capacity building, skills development, and scientific research.

In turn, the ambassador affirmed his country's desire to strengthen cooperation with Jordan in the agricultural fields, including academic and educational aspects which, according to him, a field in which Bulgaria possesses expertise that Jordan can benefit from.

The delegation also visited the School of Agriculture and toured its facilities. They also discussed with Shiyab and faculty areas in which the school wishes to exchange expertise, particularly food processing, food technology and fish production.
