School of Engineering, Public Works Ministry Explore Partnership to Boost Engineering Sector

​In a step aimed at enhancing collaboration between academia and public sectors, the School of Engineering at the University of Jordan (UJ), represented by its Dean, Prof. Menwer Al Abbady, conducted a field visit to the workshops of the Ministry of Public Works and Housing on Thursday, January 23, 2025.

This visit is part of the preparations for signing a strategic partnership agreement between the University and the Ministry of Public Works and Housing. The agreement seeks to enhance cooperation in practical training, research, and curriculum development in line with labor market demands. It also aims to provide hands-on training opportunities for engineering students.

The agreement will also include organizing scientific visits to engineering sites and projects supervised by the Ministry, thereby enhancing students' ability to understanding practical and professional aspects.

Through this partnership, the University and the Ministry aim to implement productive applied projects, contribute to infrastructure development, and address the needs of the engineering sector in Jordan. The agreement will further involve research collaboration and joint supervision of graduation projects.

Al Abbady emphasized that this partnership represents a significant step toward strengthening the relationship between the University and the Ministry. "We aim to build strong bridges between academic education and practical application to empower our students with skills and experiences that qualify them to enter the job market efficiently," he stated.

From the Ministry of Public Works and Housing, the meeting was attended by Director of the Financial and Administrative Affairs Department, Engineer Abdulaziz Al Dhiabat; Director of the Technical Affairs Department, Engineer Khaldoun AlShreideh; Director of the Investment and International Cooperation Unit, Engineer Saba Al-Awdat; and  Director of Transportation, Engineer Yazan Alatiyat.

From the School of Engineering, attendees included Deputy Dean for Quality Affairs & Accreditation and International Rankings, Dr. Adham Alsharkawi; Assistant Dean for Training and Alumni Affairs, Dr. Osaid Matar; Chair of the Mechanical Engineering Department, Dr. Moudar Al Zghoul; and Dr. Mohannad Jreissat from the Industrial Engineering Department.
