The University of Jordan (UJ) has announced the establishment of a specialized research group titled "Diabetic Kidney Disease," dedicated to advancing the understanding and management of this complex medical condition.
The research group aims to delve into the underlying mechanisms of Diabetic Kidney Disease, identify early biological markers to facilitate early detection and evaluate effective treatment strategies, including pharmacological and lifestyle interventions.
The group will also explore the impact of associated conditions such as hypertension, cardiovascular diseases, and related genetic and hereditary factors. Particular focus will be placed on studying the role of dietary interventions in improving disease outcomes and examining long-term health effects among patients.
The group also seeks to address health disparities in the prevalence and management of Diabetic Kidney Disease, aiming to raise awareness among patients about self-management strategies, bridging the gap between scientific discoveries and practical bedside applications.
The research group is led by Dr. Randa Farah and comprises as members:
Dr. Izzat Al Awwa
Dr. Dana Hayyasaat, National Center for Diabetes, Endocrinology, and Genetics
Dr. Heba Abasi
Dr. Prakash Gudsoorkar, Assistant Professor at the University of Cincinnati, Ohio, USA.
