UJ Student Wins West Asia Gold Medal in Kata/Karate

​The University of Jordan (UJ) President, Prof. Nathir Obeidat, congratulated Faris Al-Awaisheh, a student at the School of Rehabilitation Sciences, on winning the gold medal in the West Asia Championship for the Under-21 Kata/Karate category, currently being held in Sharjah, UAE.

Obeidat expressed his pride of Al Awaisheh and in all students who bring honor to Jordan through their accomplishments, reaffirming the university's support for Al Awaisheh in his athletic journey as he represents both the university and Jordan in all international forums.

Al Awaisheh secured the gold medal after defeating Iraqi national team player Mohammed Arkan in the final match, earning a score of 23.5 to Arkan's 22.7.

It is worth noting that Al Awaisheh was admitted this year under the sports excellence program in the School of Rehabilitation Sciences.

The West Asia Championship, held in Sharjah, featured around 500 male and female participants representing 10 countries.
