The University of Jordan (UJ) President, Prof. Nathir Obeidat, discussed avenues of mutual interest with the Chancellor of the University of Sharjah, Prof. Hamid Al-Naimiy, and the accompanying delegation.
The visit aimed to explore the university and sign a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for institutional cooperation.
Obeidat expressed delight at the visit, emphasizing the strong mutual ties and the need for further collaboration between the two universities. He also highlighted UJ's advancements in the digital transformation project, academic development, and global rankings, stressing the importance of UJ's partnerships with business and industry.
Al-Naimiy conveyed greetings from Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, highlighting UJ's significant role in the region, and noting that the MoU will mark the beginning of extensive academic cooperation between the two parties.
The MoU includes faculty and student exchanges, joint academic programs, research collaboration, and shared academic and institutional data.
Attendees from the University of Sharjah included Dr. Salah Al Haj, Dr. Amal Al Ali, Dr. Sharifa Al Marzouqi, Dr. Awni Al-Khasawneh, Nasser Mohammed, Maryam Al Shamsi, and Radwa Al Balushi.
The signing ceremony was attended by UJ's vice presidents Prof. Ashraf Abukaraky, Prof. Ziad Al Hawamdeh, Prof. Nahed Emaish, Prof. Inaam Khalaf, Prof. Faleh Sawair, and Prof. Suhail Haddadin, Dean of Academic Research Prof. Amira Al Masri, Dean of Student Affairs Prof. Safwan Al Shiyab.
Director of International Affairs Unit, Dr. Samih Al Zubaidi, Director of International Program, Alumni and Marketing Unit, Dr. Zaid Obeidat, and Director of Media and Public Relations Unit, Dr. Mohammed Wasif also attended the meeting.
The delegation also visited the Centre for Documents, Manuscripts and Bilad Al Sham studies to learn about its significant historical documents and manuscripts.
