The University of Jordan (UJ) welcomed an academic delegation from the Peoples’ Friendship University of Russia (RUDN University) to explore new opportunities for academic and research cooperation and to strengthen student and faculty exchange programmes between the two institutions.
The meeting, led by UJ President Prof. Nathir Obeidat, reaffirmed the solid academic partnership between the two universities. In his remarks, Obeidat noted that his recent visit to RUDN University showcased its dynamic academic culture and strong international outlook, describing it as one of the world’s most forward-looking higher education institutions.
During the discussions, both sides presented an overview of their academic schools, research centres, and achievements in global rankings, highlighting how both universities contribute to the advancement of higher education in Jordan and Russia. They also explored launching joint academic and research programmes in fields such as artificial intelligence, technology, and the humanities.
Obeidat highlighted the importance of flexible joint programmes allowing students to study at both universities, gaining international experience and competitiveness in the global job market.
UJ currently hosts 63 Russian students enrolled in Dentistry, Engineering, and Business programmes, reflecting international confidence in its academic standards and learning environment.
The Russian delegation commended UJ’s distinguished record in teaching Russian language and literature, expressing readiness to expand collaboration across various disciplines.
The meeting was attended by UJ vice presidents, deans, and directors, along with the Deans of Medicine and Economics from RUDN University. At the conclusion, the two universities exchanged commemorative plaques as a gesture of goodwill, reaffirming their shared commitment to advancing education, research, and cultural understanding between Jordan and Russia.
