The University of Jordan (UJ) Library Unit received a visit from the Cultural Attaché at the Embassy of Hungary in Amman, Armin Fabian, aimed at enhancing academic and cultural cooperation between Jordan and Hungary.

The Director of the Library Unit, Dr. Mujahed Thneibat, and Deputy Director, Amani Al-Hamarsha, welcomed the diplomat and accompanied him on a tour of the library’s facilities, where he briefed him on its diverse sections, services and reading halls, including the UN Depository Library hall.

Thneibat presented an overview of the library’s advanced services, including its automated borrowing and return system, comprehensive research support, training programs, and its integrated digital platform, which provides access to a wide range of academic and scientific resources. He emphasised the library’s status as a national hub for knowledge dissemination and its role in housing multiple official depository centers.

He further explained that the library operates ten satellite reading halls across various faculties, in addition to its central branches, serving faculty members, administrative staff, students, researchers, and members of the local community, while integrating the latest technologies to enhance service delivery.

A key stop during the tour was the Hungarian Corner—an initiative that highlights Hungarian literature and cultural heritage. Fabian expressed appreciation for the University's commitment to promoting intercultural dialogue through academic and literary resources.

After the tour, Fabian extended his congratulations to the University on its recent progress in the QS World University Rankings 2026, describing the achievement as a testament to UJ’s strategic vision and global academic reputation. He also expressed admiration for Jordan’s rich cultural heritage and tourist sites, noting his appreciation for the country’s hospitality and natural beauty.

The visit reaffirmed the University’s leading role as a center for academic excellence and cultural exchange and opened avenues for future collaboration with Hungarian academic institutions.
