Students from the King Abdullah II School of Information Technology at the University of Jordan (UJ) claimed first place in the GJU 3030 Innovation Competition, held at the German Jordanian University under the theme “Artificial Intelligence and its Applications.”
Over 130 teams representing various Jordanian universities participated in the second edition of the competition. Only 27 teams advanced to the final stage in the university track, among them UJ team, which won first place with their project "AI Signs." The winning team consisted of Anas Mousa, Khaled Sharouf, Salem Nasour, and Mohammad Al-Bataineh.
Additionally, the school’s team also secured fourth place with the project "Codi Story," developed by students Bisan Al Attal, Leen Samman, Layan Balbisi, and Zeina Abu Nasser, under the supervision of Dr. Omar Al Qadi from the Department of Artificial Intelligence. Both teams achieved outstanding results that highlighted their competence and technical skills in the field of AI.
Dean of the King Abdullah II School of Information Technology, Prof. Basel Mahafzah, congratulated the winning students on their achievement, praising it as an inspiring accomplishment for fellow students striving to fulfill their aspirations.
Mahafzah reaffirmed the school’s commitment, under the University’s leadership, to supporting student participation in local and international competitions, emphasizing their role in advancing skills in data science and AI. He also encouraged students to strive for excellence and innovation with dedication.
He urged them to keep working hard to attain advanced rankings in various regional and international forums and to continue their journey of excellence with the same passion and resolve.
