A student delegation from Georgetown University, USA, accompanied by Dr. Yahya Al Hendi and Dr. Ryann Craig, visited the University of Jordan (UJ) to explore Jordan's model of interfaith coexistence as part of their studies.
UJ President, Prof. Nathir Obeidat, welcomed the delegation, emphasizing the strong academic ties between UJ and Georgetown. He highlighted UJ's commitment to international collaboration, noting its numerous agreements with global universities, including prominent American institutions.
Obeidat also underscored the importance of academic exchange opportunities for students, pointing out that many UJ graduates pursue further studies or careers in the United States.
Speaking about the Amman Message, Obeidat affirmed its role as a cornerstone of tolerance and moderation in Jordan, promoting a balanced approach in all aspects of life.
Al Hindi expressed his appreciation for the Amman Message and its contribution to interfaith dialogue. In turn, the students conveyed enthusiasm for the visit, considering it a valuable opportunity to understand Jordan's approach to peace, coexistence, and tolerance as a way of life.
The visit included meetings with UJ students, a campus tour, and discussions on shared values and the role of education in promoting tolerance, including a dialogue at the Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II School of Political Sciences and International Studies.
