University of Jordan Hospital and Bambino Gesù Children's Hospital Examine Cooperation Prospects

The General Director of the University of Jordan Hospital, Prof. Nader Al-Bsoul, discussed avenues for joint cooperation with the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Bambino Gesù Children's Hospital in Italy, Dr. Tiziano Onesti.

The meeting addressed enhancing collaboration between the two institutions, supported by the International Medical Center and the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), particularly in performing surgical operations for children suffering from congenital and structural heart diseases, such as malformations and heart defects.

During the meeting, Al-Bsoul expressed his appreciation for this humanitarian form of medical cooperation and the efforts dedicated to this field. He also highlighted that the hospital continuously implements humanitarian medical initiatives, in which a specialized pediatric cardiac surgery team collaborates with international medical teams, maintaining the highest standards of quality and scientific advancement.

For his part, Onesti thanked the hospital administration for welcoming this collaboration, expressing the team’s desire to launch these campaigns starting in September of this year, with two campaigns annually. This initiative will follow a review of cases seen at the hospital’s pediatric clinics, whether for refugee children or Jordanian nationals, by the relevant specialists at the hospital.

The meeting was attended by the hospital’s Deputy General Directors, Prof. Sami Abu Halawa for medical affairs and Dr. Amjad Bani Hani for administrative affairs, along with pediatric cardiology consultants, Prof. Iyad Al-Ammouri and Dr. Leila Toutounji. From Bambino Gesù Hospital, the attendees included Medical Director Dr. Massimiliano Raboni, Head of the International Relations Office Alessandro Cristaldi, and Davide Bonzi from the International Relations Office. The International Medical Center was represented by Medical Director Dr. Ihab Al-Dhiban, Chief Referral Officer Dr. Assem Al-Abbadi, and Dr. Ahmed Al Muslim. Representing UNHCR were Public Health Officers Ashraf Al Amri, Ibrahim Abu Siam, Iyad Shtait, and Bashir Al-Zoubi.
