University of Jordan, KOICA Lay Foundation for Establishing Joint Training Academy

The University of Jordan (UJ) President, Prof. Nathir Obaidat, discussed today with the Director of the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) in Jordan, Kim Soyoung, and her accompanying delegation ways to strengthen cooperation in several areas of mutual interest.

The meeting discussed collaboration in establishing a Jordanian-Korean academy at the university. The academy aims to train students and specialists in cybersecurity, green energy, the Internet of Things, and artificial intelligence. The project is planned to run from 2025 to 2029.

During the meeting, Obeidat stressed the significance of this project, highlighting the university's strong commitment to integrating technology into academic programs. He underscored the importance of the partnership with KOICA in achieving this goal and the necessity of continuous development and modernization at the university to keep pace with contemporary requirements.

For her part, Soyoung emphasized the importance of the ongoing bilateral cooperation fruitful between the agency and the university. She also stressed the need to establish a shared identity for the project while meeting the university’s needs and strategic objectives.

The meeting was attended by the Vice President for Scientific Schools, Prof. Ashraf Abu Karaki, Dean of the School of Engineering, Prof. Munwar Al-Tarakiya, as well as Prof. Riad Al Kasassbeh and Prof. Osama Al Habahba from the School of Engineering.
