The University of Jordan (UJ) President, Prof. Nathir Obeidat, met with the members of the Student Union Council at the Deanship of Student Affairs to discuss the university’s commitment to enhancing students’ skills and preparing them for future challenges.
During the meeting, Obeidat emphasised the university's dedication to equipping students with soft and digital skills that shape their personalities, enabling them to think critically and solve personal and societal problems. He restated the importance of mutual trust between students and the university, affirming that UJ spares no effort in paving the way for students to become well-rounded graduates who reflect the university’s distinguished reputation.
Obeidat lauded the achievements of the Student Union Council, which returned after a five-year suspension, noting its role in forming student committees and contributing to the development and maintenance of campus facilities. He encouraged council members to continue their efforts in launching initiatives that benefit the student body and enhance the university environment.
He further urged students to prepare for their professional futures by building strong language, technological, and interpersonal skills, bridging the gap between academic knowledge and practical application to meet job market needs.
Accompanying President Obeidat during the visit were the Vice President for Scientific Schools, Prof Ashraf Abu Karaki, Vice President for Humanities Schools, Prof. Nahed Emaish, and Vice President for Administrative and Financial Affairs, Prof. Ziad Al Hawamdeh.
In his remarks, Dean of Student Affairs, Prof. Safwan Shiyyab emphasized the collaborative role between the Deanship of Student Affairs and the Student Union Council in supporting UJ’s strategic goals through creative student initiatives. He commended the council’s dedication to enhancing student life and expressed hopes for continued cooperation under the guidance and support of the university administration.
