The University of Jordan (UJ) President, Prof. Nathir Obeidat, received in his office the Philippine Deputy Foreign Minister, Theresa Lazaro, the Philippine Ambassador to Amman, Wilfredo Santos, and the accompanying delegation. The visit aimed to discuss avenues of academic cooperation between the two sides.
During the meeting, Obeidat emphasized the deep ties between the two friendly countries and expressed UJ's desire to enhance cooperation with the embassy and develop academic relations with Philippine universities. He also welcomed an increase in the number of Filipino students studying at the university, particularly in postgraduate programs.
For her part, Lazaro expressed pleasure at visiting UJ, emphasizing education as a key area for fostering cooperation that strengthens ties between the two countries. She welcomed the idea of increasing the number of Filipino students at the university. Lazaro also praised Jordan’s culture, its wealth of historical sites, and noted the similarities between the Jordanian and Filipino people, particularly their shared hospitality.
The meeting was attended by Vice President for Humanities Schools, Prof. Nahed Emaish; Vice President for Scientific Schools, Prof. Ashraf Abu Karaki; Vice President for Administrative Affairs, Prof. Ziad Al-Hawamdeh; along with the Dean of the Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II School of International Studies and Political Science, Prof. Hasan Al-Momani; and the Director of the International Program, Alumni, and Marketing Unit, Prof. Zaid Obeidat.
