UJ President, Chinese Delegation Discuss Details of Upcoming Cooperation

The University of Jordan (UJ) President Prof. Nathir Obeidat on Monday met with a Chinese delegation representing the Management Committee of China-Arab States Youth Entrepreneurship Park to discuss prospects for upcoming cooperation and knowledge exchange between the two sides.

The meeting comes in follow-up to the signing of a comprehensive memorandum of understanding (MoU) in May with the China-Arab States Technology Transfer Centre, which outlined collaboration in a number of areas, including medicine, agriculture and engineering.

During the meeting, the two sides agreed on the establishment of centres on the university campus, focusing on the maintenance of electric and hybrid vehicles and mobile devices and the training of university students in these areas. In addition, they discussed strategies to attract Chinese students to study Arabic language.

The delegation also visited Jordan University Hospital, where the delegation met with the hospital’s director and deputies.

The signed agreement aims to channel Chinese technological advances and smart applications into various sectors, in addition to improving partnerships in medical education and developing joint academic and vocational programmes.

The agreement also includes the establishment of artificial intelligence and e-vehicle maintenance laboratories in collaboration with leading Chinese automotive companies.
