Under the patronage of the University of Jordan (UJ) President Prof. Nathir Obeidat, UJ welcomed its new students in a vibrant atmosphere that reflected the excitement of new beginnings.
Organized by the Deanship of Student Affairs, the event strengthened engagement between students and the university’s leadership while fostering pride and a sense of belonging to one of the Kingdom’s most distinguished institutions.
In his remarks, Obeidat warmly welcomed the students to “the mother of Jordanian universities,” a symbol of national pride. He encouraged them to pursue knowledge with curiosity and purpose, noting that each student carries a story of achievement waiting to unfold. He also highlighted UJ’s ongoing transformation in teaching and learning to prepare graduates for a rapidly changing world shaped by innovation and technology, calling on students to take initiative and lead positive change.
Dean of Student Affairs Prof. Safwan Shiyab said that joining UJ marks the beginning of a lifelong journey of learning, growth, and contribution. He urged students to make the most of campus life by engaging in activities, building skills, and balancing academic and personal development, emphasizing that excellence is built on steady effort and self-belief.
The program featured an artistic and cultural performances, including the theatrical performance “Bukra” (Tomorrow) by the popular Jordanian comedy duo Hasan Sbeih and Rania Ismail, known as Za’al and Khadra, as well as musical performances by the UJ Choir and artists Husam and Wessam Al-Louzi, along with student competitions and interactive activities that added a cheerful close to the celebration.
